2025 IASJ Jazz Meeting, 7–12 July, Klagenfurt, Austria
The ‘Proposed Participants Form’ is now available on the website dedicated to the 2025 IASJ Jazz Meeting in Klagenfurt, Austria. The meeting starts on Monday 7 July and the final concerts take place on Friday 11 July and Saturday 12 July.
The host school is the Gustav Mahler Private University (GMPU). The head of the jazz department is drummer Klemens Marktl. He and his team welcome the participants is the newly renovated building.
More than in former years, you are urged not to pay for transportation tickets or hotels until your participation is confirmed. The IASJ and the GMPU have agreed that the meeting will only take place if 50 or more participants are registered.
Many thanks to Lydia Liebman for arranging an interview with Yoshi Kato, a DownBeat contributor, with outgoing IASJ Executive Director Wouter Turkenburg and incoming Executive Director Ed Partyka. The article on the IASJ is scheduled to be published in the 2025 January publication of DownBeat, the jazz education edition.
The IASJ Research Journal
Volume 1 of the IASJ Journal was published almost two years ago. The editors, Kurt Ellenberger and Wouter Turkenburg, had hoped for about one hundred downloads per year. The counter indicates that over 1700 times articles are downloaded.
For Volume 2, there are 9 contributions almost ready to be published in the IASJ Journal of Applied Jazz Research. Do you have an article, an opinion paper, an interview, or a subject that is of practical use and that you want to share with jazz, worldwide? Please contribute as well. The now hard deadline is 20 December 2024.
