CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

ONJ Youth Orchestra
Season 2024-2025

Official deadline: 6 October 2024

Arrangements: Didier Levallet (double bass)
Musical direction : Sophia Domancich (pianist, composer)

The call for applications for the new season of the 'The ONJ Youth Orchestra’ is now open. This project, set up by Frédéric Maurin, in collaboration with Jean-Charles Richard in 2018, is aimed at European students wishing to be involved in an orchestra project. The project has met with great success in its previous editions.

It allows students to play with other musicians from different regions of France and Europe, to meet major and essential jazz artists and composers, and to learn how to work in an orchestra. It also has the ambition to transmit and promote the incredible musical richness produced by the 'Orchestre National de Jazz' from France, for more than 35 years.

Soloist with ONJ Didier Levallet, and pianist and composer Sophia Domancich will take the reins of the Youth Orchestra for this new season dedicated to the repertoire written by the double bassist.

The orchestra's instrumentation will be in the spirit of the jazz big band, broadening its sound palette by introducing instruments that are rarer or never encountered in this context (cello, horn). As in previous seasons, the orchestra will perform in concerts (6 per season on average).
